Churchland High School earns ‘Best High School’ honor from U.S. News and World Report

Churchland High is a 2020 Best High School, based on rankings released today from the U.S. News & World Report.

"We are thrilled for this wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of all our Churchland students, families, teachers, staff and administration," said Dr. Elie Bracy, III, superintendent of Portsmouth Public Schools. "To have our Truckers highlighted on this impressive list is a tremendous honor."

This year, the U.S. News & World Report's 2020 Best High Schools list numerically ranked nearly 18,000 schools nationwide. According to U.S. News, the highest ranked U.S. public schools in the rankings are those whose attendees demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math and reading state assessments, passed a diverse array of college-level exams and graduated in high proportions.

Among Churchland’s achievements, the school was ranked 38th in the state for its performance in math and reading. To see Churchland’s full performance report, visit usnews.com.

According to U.S. News, the Best High Schools rankings are produced in conjunction with RTI International, a global research firm. All data comes directly from official third-party sources. U.S. News receives Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate data directly from the College Board and International Baccalaureate, respectively, for use in the rankings. The state assessment data and graduation rates are from each state.
