Regulations for School Bus Riders

Transportation Bus Regulations

Greetings Principals and Assistant Principals,

A transportation safety concern has caused for immediate action.  The office of transportation has received complaints of students throwing objects from school bus windows.  Objects propelled from a moving vehicle can cause bodily harm and/or loss of or damage to property.  The division can be held liable for incidents/accidents of bodily injury and property damage due to objects being thrown from Portsmouth Public Schools' school buses.

Effective, Monday, November 4, 2019, ALL reports of objects being thrown from a school bus window will be considered a serious violation.  The student(s) will be identified and receive a school bus violation referral for his/her misconduct.  Bus drivers will be instructed to hand deliver Bus Violation Reports to the student’s enrolled school.

We look forward to working with you to resolve this matter.

Mr. Kevin Privott, Coordinator of Transportation
Mr. Timothy Price, Transportation Supervisor
