Costella B. Williams
The Honorable Costella B. Williams, a native of Prince George County, Virginia, was elected to the Portsmouth School Board on May 6, 2008. She is a graduate of Prince George County High School and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration (1973) from Virginia State University. Currently, she is employed as a supervisor with the Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services, City of Portsmouth. For the past 25 years, Costella has been very active in the Portsmouth community where she is a member and leader of Grove Baptist Church. She has served on the boards of the Portsmouth Schools Foundation, The Her Shelter and as an advocate on the Local Human Rights Committee. She is a Board member for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for Friends of the Juvenile Court, a past president of The Portsmouth Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc., past president of The Moles, Incorporated, Portsmouth Chapter, past Facet Chairman and Financial Officer for The Links, Incorporated, Portsmouth Chapter, and a past officer for Gamma Delta Omega – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. While a member of Jack & Jill of America, Inc., Costella was named Distinguished Mother of the Year. Married to Junius H. Williams, Jr., Managing Director, Dominion-Virginia Power, they have two daughters, Tiffani Staton and Angela Williams both graduates of Portsmouth Public Schools, a son-in-law, Diamond Staton, a graduate of Portsmouth Public Schools and a granddaughter, Gabrielle Lynn Staton, a future student of Portsmouth Public Schools. Costella promises to do for your children what she would want done for her own. She is committed to excellence in our schools, and is grateful and humbled that citizens cast their ballots to make her “The Top Vote Getter” in the May 6th election.
