HOMEWORK
It is the belief of the Portsmouth Public Schools System that homework is an integral part of a student’s academic life and has a definite and useful place in learning. Homework is defined as those activities that provide the child with reinforcement, preparation and enrichment through independent practice and the use of skills and concepts taught in the classroom. Homework assignments can serve as a vital link between parent, student, and teacher.
Time allotments for homework per day:
Kindergarten: Approximately 15-30 minutes
Grades 1-3: Approximately 30-45 minutes
Grades 4-6: Approximately 45-60 minutes
FALCON BAG
An envelope will come home on Tuesday of each week. The parent(s) must review the papers and sign the outside sheet. If your child does not bring the Falcon Bag home on Tuesday, please call the teacher or the office at once. As a parent, you need to look for a weekly review of assignments and/or comments on that given day. Please return the envelope to school each Wednesday.
