The Honorable Angelia N. Allen is a native of Chester, Pennsylvania. A resident of Hampton Roads since 1996 and a proud resident of Portsmouth since 2012, Angelia is civic minded and loves all things Portsmouth. Angelia believes in the value of public education and believes that her role as a School Board member is to act strategically in line for the best interests of the entire school division. Angelia is a veteran of the United States Armed Forces and a graduate of the Vann H. Lefcoe Leadership Development Program, Project Inclusion, LEAD Hampton Roads, Sorensen Institute of Political Leadership and Emerge Virginia. Angelia is a member of Third Baptist Church, Parkview Civic League, Portsmouth Service League, United Way of South Hampton Roads Council on Diversity and Inclusion, Martin Luther King Leadership Steering Committee, African American Historical Society of Portsmouth, and the American Legion Post 190. Angelia proudly serves on the following boards and commissions: Virginia State Board of Social Work by appointment of the Governor, Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, Portsmouth Schools Foundation, Portsmouth Social Services Advisory Commission, Children’s Harbor, Portsmouth Task Force on Aging, and Newport Community Development Authority.
Service is the core of Angelia’s lifestyle and she looks forward to dedicating the time necessary to support our Superintendent, our teachers and most importantly, our students.
