Minds in Motion with Richmond Ballet

For the past few weeks, students at Hodges Manor and James Hurst elementary schools got dance lessons from the pros at Richmond Ballet.

They recently showed off their skills in a culminating performance of the Minds in Motion program at Churchland High. It’s the second year PPS students have participated in the program.

Minds in Motion is a statewide initiative created by Richmond Ballet to engage children in a high-quality arts program. It creates a bridge for students to gain a greater understanding of art, classroom curriculum, and professional performance. Students learn choreography and music, but the program also teaches them about self-discipline, staying focused, and completing a task

The Portsmouth program is made possible through the generous support of the Southeast Virginia Community Foundation.
