Portsmouth student competes on Food Network’s “Kids Baking Championship”
Kaniyah Cary will again appear on the show Monday at 8 p.m.
For the past few weeks, Kaniyah Cary has sliced, stirred and baked her way into the hearts of people across the country. Kaniyah, a 10-year-old student at Churchland Primary & Intermediate School, is a contestant on the “Kids Baking Championship” show on the Food Network. She’s the only local contestant on the popular show featuring actress Valerie Bertinelli and celebrity pastry chef Duff Goldman.
So far in the 10-week contest, Kaniyah and other contestants have baked carnival-themed cupcakes, volcano Bundt cakes, comfort food desserts and tie-dye cakes. On Monday, Kaniyah and the remaining seven bakers will modernize classic desserts like coconut cream pie and German chocolate cake into trendy éclairs.
The winner will earn a $25,000 grand prize and bragging rights as the Kids Baking Champion!
