Meet the Student Representative
MyKayla Moore, a senior at I.C. Norcom High School serves on the Portsmouth City School Board as the Student Representative. MyKayla is a member of the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society. She was the Junior Class Vice President in 2015 and volunteers with the Young Life and Girls to Women organizations.
MyKayla hopes to “bring the necessary changes to improve the schools” and hopes to address student issues in her new role.
In the event MyKayla is unable to attend a meeting, the School Board has appointed an alternate student representative, Teagan Rogers, a rising senior at Woodrow Wilson High School. For more information, click here.

Portsmouth City School Board Student Representative
The Portsmouth City School Board values the opinions and concerns of students enrolled in the public school of Portsmouth. The student representative serves in an advisory capacity and does not vote. The student representative does not attend closed meetings. The school division provides the meeting agenda and other public materials to the student representative in advance of each open meeting.
The student representative does not have access to confidential information, including student or personnel records. The student representative is expected to attend all regular, open meetings and to complete assignments for research and data collection when requested by the School Board. If the student representative is unable to attend the meeting, the student alternate will attend.
