Home School Education

Portsmouth Public Schools recognizes that some parents wish to provide Home School Education to their children.

A letter of request should be written to the Superintendent of Schools enclosing the Notice of Intent to Provide Home Instruction, the appropriate grade level curriculum to be taught and credentials of the person responsible for the instruction. This should be submitted each year for each child.

In order to admit any child that has been in Home School Education into Portsmouth Public Schools a letter should be written to the Superintendent of Schools requesting they be allowed to register in their zone school. The parent will receive a letter of approval allowing them to register their child/children. The letter should be taken to the school along with the necessary documents; birth certificate, shot record, tests/grades, and proof of residence to assist in registration and proper grade placement.
