Services

The faculty and staff at James Hurst Elementary work hard to provide our students with many opportunities for success.  The following services are offered to our students:

 

After-School SOL Remediation Program

 

     A brief description:   Based on data from the students' Benchmark scores and teacher recommendations, students are invited to participate  in after school tutoring.  Student prepare for their Standards of Learning Test by spending two days a week involved in after school tutoring.  The  tutoring is provided to the students by the teachers of James Hurst Elementary.  Again, selection for this program is made solely by the teacher.

Algebra Readiness

 

     A brief description:    Based on a pre-assessment, sixth grade students are selected to participate in this program which offers complimentary  remediation on skills that will help students to be successful in algebra.
