Our administration, faculty and staff are committed to providing the best education possible to the students entrusted to our care. Academic and extracurricular program are continually added to provide the best educational opportunities possible so students are well rounded and prepared to take their place in their community. Below are new programs that have recently been instituted.

Middle School Restructuring

In 2006 our the three middle schools were restructured to include only seventh and eight grade students. Sixth graders now remain at the elementary level.

First College Program

The First College Program is a partnership between Portsmouth Public Schools and Tidewater Community College (TCC). The Program allows high school seniors who have taken dual enrollment classes and passed them with a grade of "C" or better, and have completed all requirements for graduation, to enroll as fulltime college students at TCC during the second semester. These credit hours are fully transferable to any state college or university. The class of 2006 were the first participants of the First College Program. Interested students or parents should contact their students' guidance counselors.
