National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society is a National organization which recognizes young scholars and teaches them the importance of positive leadership and community service.
The induction ceremony for the Churchland Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is held each Spring. Students are required to make Honor Roll for the first semester, maintain a clean behavior record, and complete an application and essay in order to be inducted.
The National Junior Honor Society meets one time each month. The President calls each meeting to order and all members recite the pledge. The Vice President takes attendance, the treasurer helps with receipts and fundraising, and the secretary creates the agenda.
All members are required to earn three community service credits per year.
During each meeting, we discuss past projects, plan future projects, share information about opportunities for awards, recognize members who have received awards, and remind members of the standards they must uphold. Members have the opportunity to sign up for different committee service projects each month.
We hold elections during our first meeting and our Executive Board meets prior to each club meeting. During the executive board meeting we discuss ideas for future projects and decide which projects to carry out each month. We also create the agenda for the following meeting to ensure that each officer understands his/her responsibilities.
