Services 

The following services are provided through Lakeview Elementary School.  For more information on each of the services, call the school office at (757) 465-2901.                                                                                    

SOL TUTORING

A tutoring program offered to 3rd through 6th grade students to review and remediate math and reading SOL skills. Tuesday- Thursday  4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.

Jump Start Mathematics Program

The Jump Start Mathematics Program is a second year program for advanced mathematics at Lakeview Elementary. The program’s members include grade 4-6, and the children get the opportunity to be involved with Middle School math.  Areas of focus are geometry and measurement, fractions, division, decimals and rigorous problem solving. With the implementation of this program, students get to explore mathematical concepts, and work on mastery of each SOL. Tuesday- 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.

CHROME

The mission of CHROME is to increase opportunities for underrepresented minority and female students to enter math, science engineering and related technical fields.  CHROME serves as a planning, coordinating and advocacy organization designed to complement and enhance educational programs of school systems.

SIX TO SIX BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

A child care program offered for students who attend Lakeview Elementary.
Mondays through Fridays  6:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. A childcare alternative sponsored by the Portsmouth Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services and the Portsmouth Public Schools is staffed by educational paraprofessionals and professional recreators.

  • Participation in active games and contest
  •  Instruction of crafts and recreational activities>
  • Breakfast and after school snack
Y-CAPP

The New Y-CAPP Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) Program provides behavioral interventions combined with educational support and therapeutic treatment.  Students receive assistance from
Y-CAPP staff in the classroom throughout the day, to recognize and practice positive behaviors within the school environment.  Our mission is to provide quality support and education to families in their natural environments through collaboration, positive inclusive interventions, and counseling services to build stronger family communication and connections.
